Lifestyle is expressed in both work and leisure behavior patterns and (on an individual basis) in activities, attitudes, interests, opinions, values, and allocation of income. It also reflects people’s self image or self concept; the way they see themselves and believe they are seen by the others. Lifestyle is a composite of motivations, needs, and wants and is influenced by factors such as culture, family, reference groups, and social class.

Looking back, our lifestyle pre-2016, was more than hectic.  It is hard to reach your dreams when we didn’t have time in our daily daily lives to think about them, much less take steps to achieve them.  Our work habits consumed every aspect of our lives and there was no longer any balance between work and home life.  The frantic pace we were on was not sustainable.  We were on a fast track to poor health, poor relationships and increased consumption of the things we thought would make us happier.  This, we now know, is a recipe for disaster.

Enter Minimalism…..a lifestyle that would help us be more with less.  Minimalism is a tool that can assist you in finding freedom. Freedom from fear. Freedom from worry. Freedom from overwhelm. Freedom from guilt. Freedom from depression. Freedom from the trappings of the consumer culture we’ve built our lives around. Real freedom.

Minimalism was our vehicle to freedom.  Now that we found the vehicle, what were the actual steps we needed to take in order to realize this new work-life balance through a minimalist lifestyle.  Step one:  BREATHE.  Step two:  CONTINUE BREATHING.  Remember, in order to get a different result, you have to do things differently and that is sometimes difficult to do.

“Sometimes you have to stop being scared and just go for it.  Either it will work out, or it won’t.  That’s life.”
